Proactive Prevention: Delfos Detects Silent Fault and Saves Solar Plant 90 MWh

Context
During a corrective maintenance activity at a solar plant equipped with Sungrow SG3125HV inverters, the O&M team temporarily shut down several String Boxes (SBs). The plant, with an installed capacity of 3854.40 kWp (panels) and 3593 kW (inverters), had one of its SBs - with a power of 202.86 kWp - inadvertently kept switched off after the intervention.
As the shutdown did not generate any automatic alarms, the problem ran the risk of remaining unnoticed for several days, directly impacting the plant's energy production.
Implemented Solution
Delfos went into action with the Ranking Lost Energy module, which continuously evaluates the relative performance of strings. Even without active alerts, the tool quickly highlighted abnormal behavior of a specific SB, bringing it to the attention of the Delfos Performance Engineering team. This analysis enabled immediate contact with the customer, who confirmed that the SB had remained off-line after the maintenance.

Achieved Results:
- Fault detected proactively, without the need for alarms.
- Immediate recovery of 202.86 kWp of power.
- Avoidance of up to 90 MWh in energy losses.
- Reduced average detection time for hidden faults.
Conclusion
This case demonstrates how Delfos goes beyond traditional monitoring, detecting silent faults that would go unnoticed in conventional systems. With data-based intelligence and advanced analytical modules, Delfos has established itself as an essential partner in optimizing generation and protecting the performance of solar plants.
- Up to 90 MWh of energy saved
- Instant fault detection without alarm
- 202.86 kWp of power restored
- 1 SB with abnormal energy loss detected among more than 10
