Recovered Performance: Identification of Inoperative Strings Avoids Loss of 45 MWh

Context
During routine monitoring of a solar plant, the Delfos Performance Engineering team noticed that several strings in the same string box were behaving abnormally throughout the day. This condition indicated a real risk of loss of generation if it wasn't dealt with quickly.
Implemented Solution
Based on data from the Delfos platform, the technical team identified:
- Sustained drop in DC power compared to other units in the same group;
- There was a significant difference in the specific production of the SB04 string box, which generated only 4.83 kWh/kW - well below the others (over 6.5 kWh/kWp);
- Visibly lower generation curve, shown in the comparative graphs.
Following this analysis, a technical alert was issued and the O&M team was called in for a field inspection. During the check, damaged fuses were found and replaced, restoring full operation to the string box.

Achieved Results
With prompt action, the affected string box had its performance restored, subsequently reaching a specific output of 7.05 kWh/kWp, in line with the other circuits.
The preventive action:
- Avoided an estimated loss of 45 MWh of generation;
- Reduced circuit downtime;
- Eliminated the need for a lengthy diagnostic process, which would only take place after total failure.
Conclusion
Early detection of the drop in performance enabled an agile response, with targeted and effective repair. This case reinforces how continuous analysis of operational data is essential to prevent hidden faults and preserve the efficiency of solar plants.
- 45 MWh loss avoided
- Increase in specific production from 4.83 to 7.05 kWh/kWp
- Damaged fuses quickly identified and replaced
- Complete restoration of the affected circuit with minimal downtime
